This is another common inquiry we get.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has 2 relevant rules for burying cremated remains at sea.
One, it has to happen at least 3 nautical miles from shore.
Two, a 2 page form should be sent to EPA within 30 days of the event.
Our trip for scattering the ashes is 3 hours: 1 hour to get there, (up to) 1 hour for your ceremony, and 1 hour to get back. Some families have timed this to happen during the sunset.
We will get you to the right place and back, and will be happy to file the paperwork with the EPA afterwords, if you wish.
How you conduct the ceremony is entirely up to you, and we will work with you to support your event choice.
